Applications of Polyether Polyol CAS Number 9003-11-6 Applications of Polyether Polyol CAS Number 9003-11-6

Table of Content [Hide]

Polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6 is an important chemical raw material, with its primary use being the synthesis of polyurethane (PU) resin products, such as polyurethane foam, polyurethane adhesives, polyurethane glue, and polyurethane elastomers. Additionally, it can be used as a nonionic surfactant, lubricant, liquid fluid, heat exchange fluid, and more. This article will provide an introduction to polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6.

    What is Polyether Polyol?

Polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6 is a polymer containing polyether bonds (-R-O-R-) in its molecular structure, with OH groups as end groups. It is formed by ring-opening polymerization of low-molecular-weight compounds containing active hydrogen (such as alcohols) as initiators with compounds containing epoxy structures under the action of a catalyst.

    Classification of Polyether Polyol

Polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6 can generally be divided into four categories. The first is polyoxypropylene polyol (PPG), which is formed by polymerization of polyols or organic amines with propylene oxide or a copolymer of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide. This category represents the main product series of polyether polyol and is also the primary product series for polyurethane production. The second is polymer-grafted polyether polyol (POP), such as acrylonitrile or styrene grafted with polyols, which can significantly increase the hardness of soft polyurethane foam and improve its load-bearing capacity, mainly used in the production of high-load-bearing polyurethane foam. The third is polytetrahydrofuran polyol or polyurethane elastomer. The fourth is polyoxyethylene polyol (PEG), which is formed by polymerization of ethylene glycol or diethylene glycol with ethylene oxide and is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemical fibers, rubber, papermaking, electroplating, and food processing industries.

Applications of Polyether Polyol in Daily Life

    • Polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6 can be used to produce aromatic and aliphatic rigid foams. Additionally, there are mixed aliphatic-aromatic versions, often made from recycled raw materials, typically polyethylene terephthalate (PET), widely used in refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated trucks, insulation panels, and pipeline insulation. The products obtained have low thermal conductivity and good dimensional stability and are also important raw materials for formulating combined polyethers.

    • Production of foam stabilizers, defoamers for papermaking, crude oil demulsifiers, high-efficiency low-foam detergents, lubricants, quenching agents, latex foaming agents, rubber lubricants, and surfactants.

In summary, the main application field of polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6 is polyurethane polymer materials, accounting for about 80% of the total consumption of polyether polyol. It is primarily used in the production of soft polyurethane foam, rigid polyurethane foam, and coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers (CASE) products. Additionally, polyether polyol CAS number 9003-11-6 is used in the production of foam stabilizers, defoamers for the paper industry, crude oil demulsifiers, high-efficiency low-foam detergents, lubricants, quenching agents, latex foaming agents, rubber lubricants, and surfactants.
